Bird wins race 1 at Spa-Francorchamps

Sam Bird took his second win of the season, beating Jonathan Kennard and Stephen Jelley to the flag in a typically thrilling Spa race. Sergio Perez took the chequered flag for the sixth time in the National Class, well ahead of 'Frankie' Cheng.

Championship leader Marko Asmer drove from the back of the grid to finish in an incredible 6th place, claiming a further six championship points in the process.

Maro Engel's race ended early with a transmission problem, while his Carlin teammate Alberto Valerio made up places from his lowly 13th grid place only for his race to end after a collision with another car before the end of the opening lap forcing the Brazilian into the pits with broken suspension.
