Championship winning F3 team Carlin Motorsport will enter the British F3 National Class this season with Chester born racer Andrew Meyrick. The 20 year-old student will join Carlin's Championship contenders Brendon Hartley, Jaime Alguersuari, Sam Abay and Oliver Turvey.
Meyrick took part in his first competitive race in 2005 when he raced in the North West Pre 90 Formula Ford 1600 Championship. Despite his inexperience and the age of his machinery, the young novice went on to take the title.
Meyrick moved to the UK Formula Ford Championship in 2006 before joining the Formula Renault BARC championship for the second half of the season, achieving competitive results. Competing in a number of Thoroughbred Grand Prix in 2007, Meyrick was out of modern race cars until the Formula Renault Winter Cup in November 2007, when he put in an impressive performance to finish in the top ten in three out of four races, taking ninth in the overall standings.
Meyrick will race for Carlin in conjunction with his studies at Manchester Metropolitan University where he is studying for a degree in Business Studies.
Speaking about his 2008 season, Meyrick said, "For me F3 is the first level of professional motorsport; it's a prestigious championship to be involved in. I'm very excited about the season ahead and hope we'll be able to race with some Championship Class cars as well as challenging for the National title.
"As a driver, Carlin is the team you aspire to drive for in F3. I tested with the team at Valencia late last year and it went really well. There was a good atmosphere and I felt very comfortable and of course these are things you don't know before working with a team. I think we'll be able to achieve some good results together this year."
