Philip Major will be stepping into the second Carlin Motorsport cockpit next time out at Snetterton, remaining in the car for the rest of the 2009 season. 20-year-old Major, who took part in the championship for Fortec last year, will replace Oliver Oakes in the aftermath of the driver's fall-out with the team.

First getting behind the wheel in practice at the Norfolk track on 3 July, Canada's Major is savouring the moment. "I have been given a fantastic opportunity to race for Carlin Motorsport and I'm really looking forward to racing with the team," he said. "It was tough sitting out the start of the year, but now I'm even hungrier to get back to racing."
"We're very much looking forward to Philip joining the team at Snetterton," added Martin Stone, director of the team. "He has already missed part of the season but we'll be working hard to help him get up to speed quickly. There are still some great circuits to come on the British F3 calendar and we'll be aiming to get Philip near the top as soon as possible."
