Aaron Steele was overjoyed to have claimed a National Class podium finish on his first British Formula 3 weekend at Snetterton. The Litespeed driver, who finished eighteenth and sixteenth overall in rounds nine and ten respectively, is now looking to carry his good early form into Donington Park next weekend.
With a fortnight's gap between the races in Norfolk and Derbyshire, Englishman Steele has time to reflect upon an impressive start on Sunday. "It was certainly hard work," he said, having risen from 20th on the grid in the first race and running as high as third in class.
"I was pushing like crazy every single lap! I studied the data from Race 1 carefully and was able to make good progress in Race 2. I didn't set myself any targets coming into Snetterton because I wasn't sure exactly what to expect but, now that I know my way around the car, I'll be aiming for two podiums next time out."
With the bar raised by the 20-year-old, gearbox problems in Race 1 were overshadowed by the Kent man's drive. "Racing for Litespeed F3 this weekend has been fantastic," he continued. "Everyone has been willing me to do well and the whole team have put their heart and soul into squeezing the best from the car. It's great to have that level of commitment from the guys."
