Räikkönen Robertson Racing has announced that it will be running a third car for Dominic Storey in this weekend's rounds of the series at Donington Park. Kiwi Storey will be joining regular pilots Daisuke Nakajima and Carlos Huertas for the eleventh and twelfth races of the 2009 championship.
Nineteen- year-old New Zealander Storey rejoins the Räikkönen Robertson team having briefly raced with the team in the former Formula BMW UK championship in 2007. Last year the young racer took part in the Formula Renault 2.0 WEC championship, and also the Formula Toyota New Zealand Series. 2009 saw Storey join the Formula Renault Eurocup championship and Formula Renault 2.0 WEC championship.
With limited testing in the F3 car, Storey will face a tough learning curve this weekend at Donington, as he races in the car that saw Marcus Ericsson take two victories earlier this season at Rockingham and Hockenheim.
Storey's team mates Nakajima and Huertas will both be aiming for the podium this weekend. Nakajima has already taken six top six finishes this season, including one podium at Rockingham. Team mate Huertas - the youngest driver in the British F3 field - will be aiming for his first F3 podium having just missed out with a fourth place at Rockingham in May.
Speaking about racing with Räikkönen Robertson at Donington, Storey said: "I'm really excited to be racing with Räikkönen Robertson this weekend. There will be a lot to learn, but I'm sure by working together, the team and I can push for a good result. I can't wait to get in the car during the race weekend."
Team principal Anthony Hieatt added: "We're delighted that Dominic has chosen Räikkönen Robertson as the team to make his F3 debut with. He will only be racing with us for one weekend, so we'll be working hard to make this weekend as positive for him as possible. He's had very little experience in the F3 car so it's going to be a tough weekend for him, but he'll have two good team mates from which to learn. From Carlos and Daisuke's perspective it's another opportunity to aim for the podium, which at the half way point in the season, both drivers are more than capable of."
