The Hitech Racing team claimed its fifth consecutive Cooper Tires British F3 pole position this morning at Donington Park, Renger van der Zande pipping his team-mate Walter Grubmuller to the top spot by six-hundredths of a second in qualifying for tomorrow's 11th round of the championship.
It was van der Zande's third pole on the trot, and the Mercedes-powered Dutchman was delighted: "It wasn't easy at all; it took a long time for the tyres to come in and the track was getting quicker all the time, so it had to be done in the last few laps. It looks like dominant Hitech here because Walter is P2."
Championship leader Daniel Ricciardo went third quickest for Carlin and was the leading Volkswagen runner, with Carlos Huertas fourth for Raikkonen Robertson in what was the Colombian's best qualifying performance of the season.
T-Sport's Gabriel Dias was eight quickest overall and the leading qualifier in the National Class.
