Buzaid fastest in first Spa practice

Brazil's Adriano Buzaid set the quickest time as rain fell for the first practice session at Spa-Francorchamps on Friday morning. With the half hour session getting underway at 9am local time, the T-Sport car topped the timesheets from an impressive Jake Rosenzweig as the ART Grand Prix team made its guest appearance.

With the British Formula 3 championship heading to mainland Europe for the second of three non-UK meetings this year, the Ardennes' microclimate provided for some slippery moments as Buzaid topped the timesheets with a best effort of 2.40.041. Despite being a strong second for Carlin, American and series debutant Rosenzweig was almost eight tenths of a second slower.

ART's first appearance in the championship this year - joining as regular competitors in the F3 Euro Series - saw due Valtteri Bottas and Jules Bianchi third and fourth as team-mate Esteban Gutierrez set the eighth best lap time.

Championship leader Daniel Ricciardo completed the top five for Carlin ahead of Holland's Renger van der Zande and Britain's Henry Arundel. No driver completed more than 11 laps.

The second timed practice session will begin at 1:50pm local time at Spa (BST +1 / GMT +2), also lasting for 30 minutes, ahead of Race 1's qualifying session at 3:05pm.
