Renger van der Zande was pleased to have risen from sixth in first practice to the top of the timesheets at Spa-Francorchamps on Thursday. The Dutch driver, currently third in the championship and forty points behind leader Daniel Ricciardo, is confident as qualifying approaches later this afternoon.
Thursday's qualifying session will see the deciding of the grid for Round 13 on Friday, which will follow the second qualifying session for Sunday's 14th race of the season. "The car didn't work properly this morning, I had lots of understeer" said Van der Zande after afternoon practice.
"We made some changes, which were good, and managed to get the quickest lap time. It's only practice but it gives me some confidence; I'm quick enough to be on top, so I just need to do my job."
