Renger van der Zande and the Hitech team have become the fastest combination in Belgium ahead of qualifying for Round 13 later on Thursday afternoon. The Dutchman finished on top in second practice at Spa-Francorchamps from the USA's Jake Rosenzweig, again second on his BF3 debut, with Adriano Buzaid third.

Van der Zande topped the timesheets with a lap time of 2.36.684, over three seconds faster than the best on a soaking wet track earlier in the day, with new boy Rosenzweig only six thousandths slower in P2 for Carlin. Buzaid drops to third, having been fastest in the morning session, with T-Sport team-mate and Donington Park victor Wayne Boyd in fourth place and the leading British driver.

Competing in the championship this weekend is the F3 Euro Series' ART Grand Prix team, although the French squad had a more difficult time in the latest session with its cars 5th, 12th and 18th; Mexico's Esteban Gutierrez goes from being the slowest driver of the trio in first practice to the fastest in this and is the second Euro Series driver to make the top ten.

Carlos Huertas was sixth for the Räikkönen Robertson team ahead of Fortec's Riki Christodoulou, championship leader Daniel Ricciardo, Jay Bridger for Litespeed and the Carlin car of Henry Arundel.

The first qualifying session, which will determine the grid for Friday's first race of the weekend, will begin at 5:05pm local time (BST +1 / GMT +2).
