The T-Sport team will begin Saturday's second race from the front of the grid after Adriano Buzaid claimed his first BF3 pole position at Spa on Friday. The Brazilian, who starts eleventh for today's first race, mastered a saturated circuit to comfortably beat ART F3 Euro guest drivers Valtteri Bottas and Jules Bianchi.
Buzaid was consistently the quickest driver during the session and set his best time ten minutes from the end. "I wanted to go quicker towards the end of the session," said a beaming Buzaid, "but there were yellow flags and I did not dare to... I was so worried that someone would get a better lap in but in the end everything worked out brilliantly."
Buzaid is the seventh different pole position man this season. His T-Sport team-mate Wayne Boyd bounced back from his Thursday qualifying accident to post fifth best time and establish himself as the top British driver on the grid.
The ART Grand Prix Invitation Class cars of Finland's Valtteri Bottas and Frenchman Jules Bianchi were second and third quickest, ahead of championship leader and Round 13 pole sitter Daniel Ricciardo. Daniel McKenzie's Fortec machine was the quickest of the National Class cars.
Carlos Huertas was one of the session's casualties, spinning off and causing light damage to his Räikkönen Robertson car. Russian driver Max Snegirev was unable to take part after damage to his car from his first session accident could not be repaired in time.
