Daniel Ricciardo was delighted with victory at Spa-Francorchamps on Friday. Pole position on Thursday was already half of the job done for the Australian, who increases his championship lead further after a first corner collision removed title rival Walter Grubmüller from the action.
"It was a good result for me," said Carlin driver Ricciardo. "Starting from first, I just had to get in front. It was quite close at the start - Renger (van der Zande) was alongside me at one point but then we got the safety car warning."
With the pace car temporarily halting proceedings, the leader was not fazed when the green flags came out. "At the restart, I managed to break the elastic band and Renger couldn't really get a proper tow from me," he continued. "Bianchi got past Renger and was closing on me a bit but I managed to keep consistent and pass the line first. Every win is good but this win is perhaps a bit sweeter for the team because of who we beat."
Ricciardo has qualified in fourth place for Round 14 on Saturday.
