Championship leader Daniel Ricciardo was the form man yet again at Silverstone on Friday by posting the best time in final testing for Sunday's rounds of the championship. The Australian posted fifth best time in the morning session before his Red Bull Carlin Dallara leapfrogged everyone in the afternoon to grab the top spot.
Ricciardo and his Carlin team-mates Philip Major and Henry Arundel were the only front-runners to improve their times in the afternoon, as the former set the best 1.14.470 - more than a tenth clear of his nearest rival.
Carlin's fourth man, Max Chilton, was quickest of all in session one but could find no more speed and eventually had to settle for second spot. Hitech's Renger van der Zande was third fastest ahead of RR and T-Sport men Carlos Huertas and Adriano Buzaid.
Championship newcomer Michele Faccin was third quickest for West-Tec among the National Class runners, which were a second or so off the pace of class pacesetters Gabriel Dias and Daniel McKenzie. Indonesia's Adil Hermanto followed the example of his Litespeed team-mate Victor Correa by spinning off; the pairing brought up the rear of the field.
