Maurage and Ma to join West-Tec

Maurage and Ma to join West-Tec

31 August 2009

The West-Tec team has announced that France's Mathieu Maurage will be joining the Corby squad for Rounds 17 and 18 of the campaign in Portugal next weekend. As the championship heads to mainland Europe for the third and final time this year, the 18-year-old will replace Italy's Michele Faccin.

With the teenage debutant stepping in at Portimao, spectators in the Algarve will see Maurage racing alongside Russia's Max Snegirev. "I am really looking forward to racing in Formula 3 with Team West-Tec and the Algarve circuit looks fabulous," Maurage commented.

The Frenchman will be bringing with him a near-season's worth of Formule Academy experience as well as some supplementary backing. "I must thank my sponsors for helping me to be able to race now," he added.

West-Tec has also announced that China's Qinghau Ma will then be taking the second car's wheel for Brand Hatch's season finale. "It has been frustrating this year, watching from the sidelines," said Ma, 23, who has formerly raced with the team in Spanish Formula 3. "We have kept working and I am really happy to get the chance to race again now as we work towards 2010."
