Championship leader Daniel Ricciardo set the best time to move up to the top of the final classification in second practice on Friday. The Carlin driver topped the timesheets in Portugal from Finland's Valtteri Bottas as Britain's Max Chilton achieved a top three position.
Ricciardo's Volkswagen-powered Dallara set a best time of 1:38.121s, some 0.27 seconds quicker than his nearest opponent, invitation class runner Valtteri Bottas.
Daniel's chief title rival, Walter Grubmüller, could manage only ninth best time in his Hitech Racing Dallara-Mercedes, more than a second in arrears of Ricciardo.
Four of the seven invitation class runners - Bottas and his ART Grand Prix running mates Jules Bianchi and Esteban Gutierrez, plus Manor's Roberto Merhi - secured top-10 placings, with the British championship front-runners comprising Max Chilton, Renger van der Zande, Grubmüller and Räikkönen Robertson men Carlos Huertas and Daisuke Nakajima.
Quickest of the National Class drivers was Brazilian T-Sport driver Gabriel Dias, who outpaced National champion-elect Daniel McKenzie by half a second.
