"I'm so excited to be with Carlin in British F3 for next year," Calado commented. "British F3 is a fantastic championship and has proven time and time again to be a great feeder series and Carlin is clearly the team to beat. I'd like to thank the Racing Steps Foundation for their continued support and for such a great opportunity in 2010.

"I've spent a few days testing in the F3 car and the downforce and grip is just amazing. It's great that my drive for next season has been secured so early as I can really start to concentrate on winter testing so I'm fully prepared for the new season. I can't wait for the racing to get underway."

"We are delighted to welcome James into the British F3 team and very proud that the Racing Steps Foundation have entrusted us with another of their up and coming drivers for 2010," team owner Trevor Carlin added. "James has driven brilliantly in Formula Renault this year and, based on his performance in F3 testing with us, I'm sure that he will make a big impact in his first season of F3."
